Metaldyne Named One of 25 Fastest Growing Companies by Crain’s

Plymouth, Mich. – October 22, 2012 –  Metaldyne LLC today announced that it was named one of the top 25 fastest growing businesses in the metro Detroit area by Crain’s Detroit Business.

The list ranks private and public companies headquartered in metro Detroit by two factors: dollar revenue growth between 2009 and 2011 and percentage revenue growth during that same period.

Metaldyne placed number 21 on the list, exhibiting revenue growth of 59% between 2009 and 2011, from $630 million to over $1 billion.

Responding to questions from Crain’s, Metaldyne’s president and CEO Thomas Amato explained how the company has achieved this growth. “We focused our product line to support some of the most fuel-efficient automotive engines and transmissions in the market,” said Amato. “The trends towards more sophisticated powertrains require a need for high performance metal-based and noise-vibration-harshness solutions, which is where Metaldyne comes in. Considering the many excellent companies headquartered in the metro Detroit area, we are honored to be in this group."

Other notable supplier recipients included Borg Warner Inc., American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc., TI Automotive, Piston Automotive, Saturn Electronics & Engineering, Meritor Inc., in addition to automotive OEMs Chrysler Group LLC and General Motors.

Metaldyne’s revenue in 2012 is expected to continue growing as the company expands globally. The company recently relaunched and repositioned its facility in China, purchased and launched a new facility in the Czech Republic, and continues to expand its value-added work on products provided to its Tier 1 and OEM customers.

“We appreciate the acknowledgement, which is a testament to the men and women of Metaldyne who work hard each day to keep our momentum going,” said Amato. “At Metaldyne we are always looking forward.”
