Metaldyne Receives Customer Awards for Quality Excellence
Plymouth, Mich. – October 17, 2013 – Metaldyne, LLC today announced that three of its global operating plants have received customer awards for quality excellence, including two Supplier Quality Excellence Awards from General Motors for exceptional quality and delivery performance in 2013.
General Motors recognized Metaldyne facilities located in St. Marys, Pennsylvania (USA) and North Vernon, Indiana (USA) for quality performance over the past 12 months. Plants must meet a set of stringent quality and delivery performance grading criteria to be eligible for the award, which is only given to a select group of GM’s top performing suppliers.
Metaldyne’s plant in Pyeongtaek, South Korea was also awarded with a certificate from Hyundai Mobis for 100% on-time delivery and at least 95% PMI (partners managed inventory) in 2013, a recognition given to less than 10% of Hyundai Mobis suppliers. Metaldyne’s South Korean plant supplies balance shaft modules for three different engine platforms to Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai’s aftermarket supplier, who then provides them to Hyundai’s aftermarket dealers all around the world. Metaldyne’s balance shaft modules are used in the engines of several top selling Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
“All of Metaldyne’s facilities focus on maintaining operational excellence through continuous improvement activities, and the customer recognition we receive each year is a testament to our hard working employees who make this operating model a success,” said Thomas Amato, president and CEO, Metaldyne. “It is an honor to be recognized by General Motors and Hyundai Mobis for the efforts of our dedicated employees at these facilities.”
