Metaldyne's Mexico Plant Receives GM Quality Award for Second Time
Plymouth, Mich. – September 26, 2014 – Metaldyne, LLC today announced that it has received the General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award for the performance of its plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. This is the second time this Metaldyne facility has received the award from General Motors.
The recognition was given by the GM Mexico Powertrain Division to specific locations of their top-performing suppliers, based on performance between July, 2013 and June, 2014. Suppliers who received the award must meet or exceed a stringent set of quality performance criteria and have the cross-functional support of the entire GM organization. All recipients must also be Quality Supply Basics (QSB) certified.
Metaldyne’s Ramos Arizpe plant shipped over 1.3 million machined connecting rods to GM plants in four countries, earning a flawless score on quality performance, with zero PRR (problem report resolutions), zero PPM (parts rejected per million) and 100% on-time delivery, as well as support from the GM purchasing department and design release engineers.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from General Motors,” said Thomas Amato, president and CEO of Metaldyne and co-president of MPG. “Every member of Metaldyne’s Ramos Arizpe plant has a strong commitment to operational excellence, safety and continuous improvement. This award is a direct result of these combined efforts.”
GM was the first customer for which Metaldyne Mexico supplied fully machined powder forged connecting rods. Since the first GM connecting rod machining program in 2002, GM’s confidence in Metaldyne powder forged machining capabilities has steadily increased. To date, Metaldyne has forged and machined over 27 million rods for GM.
The Metaldyne Ramos Arizpe facility also machines connecting rods for other world class customers such as Chrysler, Yamaha, Opel, Ford and Fiat, supplying high quality products to their locations worldwide.
